The First Victims of the Occupation Active operations in Crimea deployed by the Russian Federation in March and early April 2014 resulted in at least three deaths. Two years later, none of these cases have been properly investigated and the murderers have not been brought to justice. Reshat Ametov Reshat Ametov, a 39-year-old Crimean Tatar, was the R rst person to disappear on the peninsula. He was last seen on March 3, 2014 at a pro-Ukrainian rally in the center of Simferopol, in front of the Council of Ministers of Crimea on Lenin square, where he stood in a one-man picket against the occupation of Crimea by Russia.
