Kevin Hartz #25 Cofounder and general partner, A* Capital Kevin Hartz co-founded Xoom, a money-transfer service that went public in 2013. In 2015, PayPal acquired it for almost a billion dollars. He also co-founded Eventbrite in 2006, which went public in 2018. Now, Hartz wants to parlay the fortunes from those IPOs into venture investing with A* Capital, the firm he started in 2020 — “A*” refers to a search algorithm that finds the optimal path. “I look for two attributes in a startup founder: extreme, high intellect and work ethic,” Hartz said. Hartz was part of OpenSea’s star-studded Series B funding round last summer that valued the leading NFT marketplace at $1.5 billion.
