Ed Sim #27 Founder and general partner, Boldstart Ventures Ed Sim has been a first-check investor for a quarter of a century, and he now focuses on software-as-a-service and crypto startups. For instance, Sim led Boldstart’s 2015 seed investment in Kustomer, a customer-service platform that Meta acquired last year for a billion dollars. Sim says he prefers to invest right as a company is forming, and that he takes a close look at who joins the startup. “We like to assess the kind of talent you can bring from day one,” Sim said. “The best indicators of early success are product velocity and hiring velocity, as you need the engineers and product folks to build,” he continued.
