Bill Trenchard #31 Partner, First Round Capital Over the course of more than two decades, Bill Trenchard has started five companies and backed dozens more as an angel investor. In 2012, he joined First Round Capital, a major US seed-investment firm, and he says he looks to back founders who are “totally obsessed” with the markets they’ve chosen. “Can they explain their point of view from 10 different angles?” Trenchard said. “Do they demonstrate unlimited curiosity about the problem?” Trenchard led First Round’s early investment in Airbase, a financial-software company that was valued last year at $600 million in its latest funding round, according to PitchBook estimates.
