Aileen Lee #33 Managing partner, Cowboy Ventures Aileen Lee is a pioneer among women in venture. After working as an investor at Kleiner Perkins for almost 13 years, she founded Cowboy Ventures in 2012. It was one of the first female-founded venture firms. Since starting Cowboy, Lee has led the firm’s deals in unicorns, such as Guild Education, which tripled its valuation in 2021 to $3.75 billion. Her recent investments in the fast-growing compliance unicorn Drata and the fast-growing web-building tool Mutiny moved Lee’s ranking up 36 spots to No. 33 on the Seed 100 list, and she’s now No. 2 on the Seed 25. Lee also co-founded All Raise, a nonprofit focused on increasing the number of female tech founders and investors. Lee invests in seed rounds for software-powered tech companies where the founders are “learning animals,” she said, meaning that “they build relationships, synthesize information, instinctually execute a short and long game in parallel, and grow at an astonishing rate.” Source: businessInsider
