Avichal Garg #4 Managing partner, Electric Capital Avichal Garg’s tour through tech began at Google, and he landed at Facebook in 2012 after the social-media giant bought Spool, his mobile bookmarking startup. At Facebook, he led product management for a 400-engineer team. His investing career involved a brief stint at Y Combinator, after which he struck out on his own to build Electric Capital, a firm that invests across fintech and crypto. But if the deal is right, he’ll also invest in companies outside these sectors: He was an early investor in the workplace-collaboration software startup Airtable, which recently hit decacorn status in December at a $11.7 billion valuation. He’s now among the beneficiaries of a wave of capital pouring into Web3 — a catchall term for crypto, blockchain, and metaverse companies — with two newly closed funds worth $1 billion.
