Ankur Jain #40 Founder and partner, Emergent Ventures Ankur Jain co-founded Emergent Ventures in 2016 to focus on what the firm describes as intelligent software and smart mobility. Before that, he was an investor at Nexus Venture Partners and Blumberg Capital, covering the US, India, and Israel. Last year, Jain led Emergent’s seed investment in the data-mobility startup Arcion, at a $12 million valuation, PitchBook indicated. Earlier this year, the company reached a $65 million valuation for its Series A round, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. Jain rarely speaks to the media, but in 2017 he told a reporter that he looked carefully at the culture of a company before investing and thought about possible acquisitions and other exits. “We evaluate whether the firm will be a good fit for future M&A by Silicon Valley companies,” Jain told Entrepreneur. “The key thing is that these exits don’t happen by accident. A lot of pre-work goes into deciding which company can exit and how. In our case, it’s about the ‘cultural fit.’” Source: businessInsider
