NETWORKING 126. Greet, Meet, Eat Start a lunch bunch. 1 I first started this at P&G and it was a great success . It didn’t cost the company any money and employees were already going to lunch—it just added some networking. Setting it up is easy—just collect a list of people who are interested in participating and, once a month, send out new groupings of who goes to lunch together. The group decides when and where (with packing lunch an option).2 Though it’s simple to do, the results are far from trivial. Here’s what some people said about the bunch I led: • “I’ve made some great connections with people and received some priceless advice.” • “[It’s] an opportunity to get to know the people I work with.” • “[I] feel more like a neighbor.” 1 Though I started it in New York, by the time I left, I knew of at least 4 other “lunch bunch” groups from around the world. 2 Mary Kay Morrison, Director at Humor Quest, recommends something similar, except instead of getting together for lunch, her bunches get together for a fun activity.
