Cofounder, The General Partnership

Phin Barnes #53 Cofounder, The General Partnership After working at First Round Capital for 11 years, Phin Barnes felt the itch to build again. Earlier this year, he joined forces with the team at Sweat Equity Ventures to relaunch the firm as The General Partnership. Known for getting in the trenches with entrepreneurs, the firm takes a fund-incubator model and offers help with hiring, product creation, and go-to-market execution. While at First Round, Barnes made early bets on startups, including Notion, which is now valued at $10 billion, and the femtech firm Modern Fertility, which Ro acquired last year in a deal north of $225 million. “I look for two things in early-stage founders: a bright North Star and a burning urgency to build,” Barnes said. “These folks bring tremendous clarity on what they want to build and incredible intensity to build the best company as fast as possible.” Source: businessInsider
