#60 Brian Spaly
General partner, Brand Foundry Ventures
Brian Spaly #60 General partner, Brand Foundry Ventures Brian Spaly is half of the founding duo behind Bonobos, the menswear startup that changed how men shop for clothes. After he and Andy Dunn sold the business to Walmart, Spaly took a spin as the executive chairman of the shoe company Tecovas before becoming a general partner at Brand Foundry Ventures, a boutique venture firm founded by Andrew Mitchell. Spaly said he looked for founders with insight. “My favorite bets to make at seed stage include a founder that worked in an industry for several years, realized how ossified or lame or broken it was, and then decided to build a better, disruptive company to serve customers in the space,” he said. That criteria led him to make an early investment in Happy Returns, a startup founded by two retail veterans that allows online shoppers to return their purchases in stores. The company raised $25 million in funding before PayPal acquired it for an undisclosed amount in 2021. Source: businessInsider
