Kirsten Green #75 Founder and managing partner, Forerunner Ventures Kirsten Green took an atypical path into venture investing. A former equity analyst, she used her vast knowledge of retail and consumer stocks to carve out a niche in spotting up-and-coming brands. Even her method of raising capital was unorthodox: She initially fundraised for each individual deal she made. That hustle has since paid off for Green. Several of her investments achieved big exits in 2021, including Hims & Hers and Warby Parker, both of which went public, and Modern Fertility, which Ro bought for more than $225 million in May. Forerunner just raised a $1 billion fund in February, one of the largest ever by a female-led firm. Though Forerunner’s portfolio includes investments in areas such as healthtech and fintech, Green says she still approaches each deal from the perspective of potential customers. She said, “We bring a consumer- or user-first mindset to every investment and look to marry that with a deep understanding of markets and business models.” Source: businessInsider
