Having backed more than 120 startups, including the unicorns Airbyte, Dataminr, and Thumbtack, he says there’s one critical data point he looks out for: how quickly founders are able to improve upon their startup’s products. Hoffman said it was the “most important quality in a seed-stage startup founder.” He and SafeGraph also came under fire for selling location data on abortion-clinic visitors.
