E-Learning for Participation and Skills Project Goals: Accessibility Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can use the Web. More specifically, web accessibility means that people regardless of disability can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web. Using web accessibility principles benefits all users because it requires web content and software is flexible enough to meet different user needs, preferences and situations. The Australian Government has endorsed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.0 for all government websites: Australian Government - Web Guide - Accessibility (Opens in new window). This requirement supersedes the previous mandate for compliance with WCAG 1.0. Digital Video There is increasing demand for video content in VET e-learning delivery, driven by various factors including improved capabilities of mobile devices, and the desire to make e-learning content more engaging for learners. The National Broadband Network is also expected to drive the use of video content for VET e-learning. Research on this topic was initiated in 2011 with the aim of providing e-learning content developers and teachers more guidance about creating and delivering content for learners to ensure it can be utilised by the widest number of learners across various platforms and devices.
