The Olympic Games are a source of inspiration, encouraging all people, especially the young, to take up sport and engage in physical activity. The Games leave a legacy of world-class venues that can be used by both elite athletes and communities. Hosting the Games also builds the capacity and expertise to host further large-scale sporting events, encourages sport tourism and supports the commercial development of sport in the host city and nation.
