Delivering Success: Engagement, Legacy and Vision Olympic Winter Games 2026 Sustainability Sustainability is an essential element of a successful Games. Preparing a candidature or hosting the Games can identify sustainable solutions to support communities’ development needs and showcase sustainable innovations. The environment is one of the three pillars of the Olympic Movement. Olympic Agenda 2020 has placed an even stronger focus on sustainability and legacy, with a speci昀椀c recommendation to “include sustainability in all aspects of the Olympic Games”. Building on the objectives of Olympic Agenda 2020, the IOC Sustainability Strategy was developed in close cooperation with many stakeholders and partners and published in 2016. The Strategy includes the following focus areas: • Infrastructure and natural sites • Sourcing and resource management • Mobility • Workforce • Climate The Sustainability Strategy supports the IOC’s commitment to contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
