Chapter 5: Realizing a Metadata Framework In the human mind, everything is connected. We tend to memorize and process information through associations, no matter how vague or incomplete they may be. Computers, on the contrary, are precise, so even if a single letter or number is not exactly right, they refuse to understand. This makes co-operation between a human and a com- puter so diffi cult that they literally do not understand each other. In this chapter, we do not try to teach a computer to understand humans, but rather to change some of its internal structures to match some aspects of human behaviour, eventually making it support a more human way of thinking. The goal is to create mechanisms that sup - port, among other tasks, organizing and fi nding content by using associations.
