However, more functions could be added that benefi t the mobility. For instance, context information (see Chapter 4) becomes more relevant to mobile TV. What could be the new show formats that a personal context- aware mobile TV allows? The jury is still out on that question. 2.6.2 Short-Range Wireless In the short range (within a few metres), the focus of wireless commu- nications has been less in general purpose networking and more in connecting several accessories together. Bluetooth, for instance, was designed to connect a phone with its various accessories (such as wire- less hands-free sets), or connecting a wireless mouse or a printer to a PC. Historically, such short-range links have been designed for minor power consumption and thus low data rates. More recent designs, for instance Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) links, promise far increased data rates, while Wibree promises even drastically lower power consumption.
