Ultimately, content may move freely between devices, perhaps moving with us as we move about in the world. 2.6 Wireless Revolution While microelectronics continue to give ever greater computing power to the masses, a more quiet but potentially equally important area of technology has been steadily advancing: communications. The speed of networking has evolved at a somewhat slower pace to microelec- tronics, but the results of that evolution have affected our lives in perhaps even more fundamental ways. One below-the-radar change is the inclusion of digital network - ing capability in many previously unconnected devices – home stereos, cameras, TV recorders, even refrigerators and washing 18 machines.
