Chapter 7: Application Outlook 319 However, many personal training devices are capable of doing considerably more than this. Suunto t6, for instance, can connect to a PC via USB. The logs can then be transferred to the PC for further analysis. From the information recorded by the wristop computer, the PC software can analyse excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), heart rate, respiration rate, ventilation volume, oxygen uptake, energy consumption, and training effect. This information can be further used to make training plans and programs for optimal results related to desired training goals, such as losing weight or training for a forthcoming marathon event. Other features include presenting the training information in graphi- cal form, and backing up the content. An additional dimension for 38 Suunto is its online community support forum, which allows people to discuss, compare, and share content. Besides general exercising, there are also dedicated devices targeted at certain types of sports, such as diving and golf. These devices are capable of recording and analyzing information specifi c to the sport in question. So far, personal fi tness data has not been regarded as personal content. Many devices have been unable to export the data, people have not bothered to store the data, and there have not been easy analysis tools available. All this is changing and we believe that, in the next few years, GEMSing personal fi tness data will become an impor- tant application area for mobile devices in general. 7.5.2 Movie Subtitles Another example of personal content, which is not usually considered in the domain of personal content management, comes from the movie world: subtitles for (DVD) movies. Typically, movies are delivered on tangible DVD disks, complete with menus, soundtracks (perhaps several version for dubbed languages), extras, and subtitles for regions that prefer some visual disturbance on the screen to losing the original voices of the actors. However, today movies are also delivered via other means, such as buying on a netstore, or as illegal copies from fi le sharing networks. These movies are in many cases delivered without any extras, so as to keep the bandwidth requirements to a minimum. As a result, subtitles may be missing. For many, missing subtitles may not be a problem, but if the viewer does not know the original language, they are in trouble. Not surpris- 38 http://www.suuntosports.com/
