But for excitement and potential pro昀椀tability, NOTHING compares to what we’re going to discuss here in part 5. 吀栀ere has never been anything like this on the mar- keting radar—everything from websites like YouTube to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. By the time you read this, countless new social networking sites will dominate cyberspace. Just think about it: once you learn how to navigate these sites (which is not di昀케- cult), you can build your own database of people who can exponentially expand awareness of you, your book, and whatever else you create. Networking on that level used to require a lot of time, skill, and money; now it’s free! In fact, “send no money” is one of the de昀椀ning ele- ments of social networking sites. 吀栀ey have to be free, or they’re not truly social net- working websites. 吀栀e business model of the sites them- selves is built on maximizing tra昀케c, which is the number of 昀椀rst- time and repeat users. If users have to pay to get on the website, their numbers will be severely limited. In other words, there probably won’t be any.
