Dr. Seuss’ 昀椀rst children’s book was rejected by twenty- 昀椀ve publishers. 吀栀e twenty- eighth, Vanguard Press, sold 6 million copies of the book. Fifteen publishers turned down John Grisham’s 昀椀rst novel, A Time To Kill. More than 100 million copies of his books are now in print. Star Wars, Forrest Gump, Home Alone, and Pulp Fiction were all initially rejected by major 昀椀lm studios. In my seminars, I teach and preach that there is a clean four- letter word that overcomes all rejection: next!
