He always had sev- eral going at the same time. Steve told me that he had twenty- eight tape record- ers, each linked to a di昀昀erent project. Steve said he might have writer’s block on one project, so would stop on that one and go to work on another. “I have never had writer’s block on twenty- eight projects simultaneously,” he said. Eventually he 昀椀nished them all. Steve Allen generously came to our West Holly- wood signing of Chicken Soup for the Writer’s Soul, which included his story, and helped draw an enormous audi- ence for us. Steve was enchanting, captivating, and funny as a speaker. He patiently and kindly answered everyone’s questions and was delighted to sign every book. He died three days later, so it was his last signing. I recommend that you always have too many titles, books, articles, reports, projects, and businesses to work on. It will keep your mind fully engaged, operative, and, ultimately, in昀椀nitely pro昀椀table.
