SPORT FOR SOCIAL INNOVATION: THE PARIS 2024 ENDOWMENT FUND In 2020, the Paris 2024 endowment fund was established as part of the Paris 2024 legacy strategy. Promised as part of the city’s bid to host the Games, the fund is designed to promote social innovation by SUPPORTING AND STRENGTHENING INNOVATIVE PROJECTS THAT USE SPORT AS A TOOL to respond to the major challenges facing society: health and well-being, education and participation, inclusion, equality and solidarity, and sustainable development. In particular, the endowment fund will be used to support and develop actors involved in the SPORTS MOVEMENT as well as the numerous not-for-profit organisations THAT ARE INVOLVED ON THE GROUND ON A DAILY BASIS. Two calls for projects have already been issued in conjunction with the Agence Nationale du Sport (National Sport Agency), the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français (French National Olympic and Sports Committee) and the Comité Paralympique et Sportif Français (French Paralympic and Sports Committee), supported by the City of Paris and the Département of Seine-Saint-Denis. €10 700.000 70% 300 million people have benefitted of projects funded projets HAS BEEN DISBURSED (young people, girls, those with a disability, refugees, the vulnerable, etc.) ARE LOCATED IN PRIORITY AREAS HAVE RECEIVED FINANCIAL SUPPORT The sports movement has been involved in all funded projects. SINCE THE ENDOWMENT FUND WAS SET UP IN 2020: €3.5 million by Paris 2024, €6 million by its financing partners PARIS 2024 OPEN GAMES PARIS 2024 38 ©skynesher/Getty Images Examples of successful applicants THE LÉO SPORT JOB PROJECT helps young people aged between 16 and 25 to re-enter the job market thanks to a two-fold socio- professional and sports coaching programme. THE NATUR’EST PROJECT promotes outdoor sport and encourages people to change their behaviour in order to make physical activity an environmentally responsible pursuit. THE AVITSIM PROJECT runs beginners’ para-rowing courses for disabled people using electrostimulation.
