HEALTHANDWELLNESSPROGRAMS BIOMETRICSCREENING Biometricscreeningisahealthexaminationthatmeasuresaperson’sriskfactors(suchascholesterol,bloodpressure,andbody massindex(BMI))forcertainmedicalissues. Abiometricoutcomeinvolvesassessingwhetheranenrolleemeetsspecified healthtargetsrelatedtocertainriskfactors,suchasmeetingatargetBMIorcholesterollevel. Thesepercentagesaresimilarto2016(20%and53%)[Figure12.7]. • In firmsprovidingworkerstheopportunitytocompleteabiometricscreening,41%ofcoveredworkerscompletea screening[Figure12.8]. – Thereisconsiderablevariationacrossfirmsinthepercentageofworkerswhocompleteabiometricscreening. Twenty-twopercentoflargefirmsprovidingworkerstheopportunitytocompleteabiometricscreeningreport thatmorethan75%oftheirworkerscompletethescreening,while26%reportnomorethan25%ofworkers completethescreening. • Firmsthatprovideworkerstheopportunitytocompleteabiometricscreeningmayincludeadditionalincentivesfor thoseworkerswhodoso. – Amonglargefirmswithbiometricscreeningprograms,53%offerworkersanincentivetocompletethescreening [Figure 12.10]. Amonglargefirmswithbiometricscreeningprograms,14%rewardorpenalizeworkersbasedonachieving specifiedbiometricoutcomes(suchasmeetingatargetBMI)[Figure12.10]. – Thesizeoftheincentivesfirmsofferformeetingbiometricoutcomesvariesconsiderably. Amonglargefirms offeringarewardorpenaltyformeetingbiometricoutcomes,themaximumrewardisvaluedat$150orlessfor9% of firmsandmorethan$1,000for17%offirms[Figure12.12].
