Homo Techne dystopian nightmare. I choose to believe in the former, and I hope you do, too. Of course, no perfect world awaits our successors. Even if we do a good job of enabling the future—especially if we do a good job—later human generations will have technologies and opportunities to define and express their humanity. And that means they’ll continue to have competing interests, different values and aspirations, a wide range of lived experiences, and, perhaps most of all, an abiding sense that things could and should be better.
