By partnering with more than 119,000 providers and nearly 900 hospitals in our accountable care organizations (ACOs), UnitedHealthcare is lowering costs for Medicare, Medicaid and commercial members, while putting the consumer at the center of the health care experience. Those partnerships seek to incentivize behaviors that will drive better outcomes and reduce the total cost of care, supported by technology that provides member-specific recommendations and refers patients to high-quality, cost-effective care providers. Overall, more than 14.4 million UnitedHealthcare members access care from physicians in value-based arrangements designed to manage health care costs and improve the patient experience. 16% more preventive breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings among commercial ACO members. 70% higher rates of annual primary care visits among Medicare ACO members. 15% fewer emergency room visits among Medicaid ACO members.
