Paris 2024 is breaking new ground by reinventing the pictogram, creating a badge of honour that represents not only a sporting discipline, but also a family, a sense of pride, a set of values and a community. This badge of honour is a symbol of community, an emblem, a banner of unity. It is waved proudly, carried from place to place and worn with pride, symbolising the wearer’s belonging to their chosen sporting family. No longer just functional, the pictogram has become emotional, a sign of a昀昀inity with a great and beautiful sporting community. 14 CHAP. 2 – PARIS 2024: MORE THAN JUST A PICTOGRAM, A BADGE OF HONOUR 6
